The RCGS supports its mandate ‘to make Canada better known to Canadians
and to the world’ through the many activities of its geographic
education program.
The RCGS supports geographical research on Canadian topics through its research grants program.
The Society has granted funding for numerous projects
including studentships through the Canadian
Northern Studies Trust.
Extending
our current knowledge of Canada’s geography through exploration and scientific expeditions,
the RCGS has funded some major expeditions across the country.
This program provides grants
to adventurous expeditions that expand our knowledge of Canada.
In the past few years, lectures have been given in Halifax, Moncton and Fredericton in Atlantic Canada, Vancouver and Victoria on the West Coast
and Winnipeg and Regina in the Prairies.
