Ray Zahab is a record-breaking ultra marathoner and an extreme adventurer.
This Canadian explorer consistently challenges himself to long distances in extreme weather conditions, travelling through some of the world’s harshest and most unpredictable landscapes by foot.
Zahab has ran across some of the world’s largest and hottest deserts, beginning with his 7,500-kilometre run across the Sahara Desert in 2007, and continuing with other remarkable expeditions across the deserts of Atacama, Gobi and Namib. Although Zahab is more willing to endure heat than cold, he has not refrained from exploring the icy terrains of the Canadian Arctic and Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, as well as attaining the Guinness World Record for the fastest unsupported expedition to the South Pole in 2009.
His expeditions have led him to more than 70 countries and have inspired him to create the non-profit organization Impossible2Possible, which strives to educate and empower young people.
Zahab was named an RCGS Explorer-in-Residence in 2019.
